Guineas Targets For Fabre Fillies

Both Group 1 winner Zellie (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}) and 'TDN Rising Star' Raclette (GB) (Frankel {GB}) will not be seen on a racecourse again this season, but trainer Andre Fabre has highlighted 1000 Guineas targets for his charges. Owned for her last three starts by Ali Hamad Al Attiya's Al Wasmiyah Farm, the bay won three races for Fabre's daughter Lavinia including the July 11 Listed Prix Roland de Chambure. She ran second in the G3 Prix Six Perfections at Deauville in August in her first run for her new owner and then was second again in the G3 Prix d'Aumale prior to Sunday's G1 Prix Marcel Boussac victory.

“She has come out of the race very well,” said Fabre. “She is finished for the season–she will go for the French Guineas, for sure.”

Undefeated in a Deauville maiden in August and a Sept. 17 Chantilly conditions race, Raclette missed an intended start in the Prix Marcel Boussac due to the heavy ground. She was to run in Friday's G3 Oh So Sharp S. but missed a workout and the decision has been made to head to winter quarters. The Juddmonte filly will aim for the G1 1000 Guineas or the French equivalent in 2022.

“She was supposed to work on Sunday,” he said. “But there was a storm in Chantilly, and I couldn't work her, so I decided not to run her at Newmarket.

“She is done for the season. One of the Guineas, the French or the English, will be her first target. Then we will see. She will probably get further.”
